Endangered Species

By:Katie De Koster

Endangered Species is talking about how people are trying to save animals and how some people think that it's a waste of time and money. The government wastes millions of dollars to help any animal that they think are endangered. People think that the Endangered Species Act (ESA) is not being fair with the people that work in a certain area and they have to stop working their because the ESA is trying to help and endangered species that they found out lived in the area where some workers work at. Also when an endangered animal needs a certain area to live in and that area is the land that someone bought the person gets mad because he/she loses more land. More than 80,000 jobs will be lost from protection of an owl. There are about 4,500 species living on earth and they all have a risk of being extinct. 65 million years ago more than 50,000 species became extinct in 50 years. Each year more than 50,000 sand species die and no body knows why they are dieing but there is less and less sand species. In San Bernardo more than $45 million are being spent to help endangered species. There are many things being done to help endangered species but not everyone think that it's fair.
This book was really good because it taught me many things about endangered species. I always thought that everyone wanted to help the endangered species, but once I read this book I saw that some people think that the Endangered Species Act was being unfair to some people even if the act is trying to help any species that can be extinct. All in all this book really interesting and had many facts about endangered species.
